Elaine Howarth is a graduate of Trent University, where she studied Enviromental and Political Studies. As the Head of Operations, she plans, coordinates, and oversees all of our farm hubs. She has a passion for food security and urban agriculture, and has worked with Trent’s greenroof & 1/2 acre, Local Food Plus, the Riverdale Food Working Group, and the Green Oasis Community Garden. |
Chris Wong is a graduate of Queen’s University and helps to make gardening fun and rewarding. He is the sales manager for YUF CSA. He believes in maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, and is always up for a challenge. He is active in the food world as a member of the Toronto Youth Food Policy Council, and has been a guest speaker for a variety of local food organizations. He is also the co-founder and director of Young Urban Farms Ltd., which provides private, edible landscaping and vegetable gardening services. |
Stella Woo is a graduate from the University of Toronto, majoring in Human Biology and Economics. She has a passion for fresh food and home cooking, drawing inspiration from Toronto’s culinary scene to her role as project manager and website technician. She is also the founder and editor of Quote Magazine. |
Jennifer Shea is a graduate of the University of Guelph where she studied Chemistry and Food Science. Having previously worked for a mega food conglomerate, Jennifer is now doing penance as the Riverdale Hub Coordinator. She spends her free time trying to keep her 2 year old Claire from destroying her rooftop garden. |
Nicci Iaizzo graduated from Loyalist College’s Photojournalism program with the Photo Story of the Year award, and has an extensive background in visual arts. In 2010, she followed her passion for food and farming to Hearts Content Farm, where she was a CRAFT Ontario farm intern. When she’s not coordinating the Wychwood Hub, Nicci and her beau, artist Piotr Adas, can be found tending to their balcony farm. |
Zandra Zalucky is interested in the interconnectedness between our inner and outer worlds. She has studied nutrition, social work, politics, and natural healing practices, and has been involved in social justice projects in India and Ukraine. Zandra holds a Masters degree is social work and is trained as a yoga instructor. As the Wychwood Hub Co-Coordinator, she is excited to help people grow good food right in there very own backyards. |
Kate Raycraft is a U of T graduate in Environmental Policy and Practice, and alumna of the CRAFT Ontario farm internship program. She designs and plants habitat gardens to teach people about the environment. Her dream is to become a beach bum, but in the meantime she looks forward to coordinatoing the Lawrence Hub. Her favorite vegetables are sugar snap peas. Her favourite garden tool is the Costa Rican hoe. |
Andrea Chan has found her true calling in the environmental field and is a passionate supporter of the local food movement. She is an enthusiastic volunteer coordinator and splits her down time between reading, playing taiko, baking desserts with Ontario blueberries, and writing about sustainable living on her blog. |
Madeline Boyce is a graduate of the University of Toronto majoring in Political Science. Her focus over the past several years has been on the politics of climate change. Her love of home grown organic produce came from working in her large backyard vegetable garden each year in her hometown of Halifax, NS. |
Laura Headley is currently studying at Ontario College of Art and Design, where she’s studying Graphic and Sustainability Design. For Laura, design can inspire and activate others to live more responsibly. She is excited to be coordinating YUF CSA’s Newsletter because, let’s face it, our culture’s growing awareness on the benefits of local and sustainable food practices is electrifying! |
Tahlia Dyer is a recent graduate of the University of Guelph majoring in Psychology with additional areas of concentration in both Agriculture and Communications. Tahlia is ecstatic to get the chance to be involved in the YUFCSA for the season. She will be taking care of matters behind the scenes as one of the Newsletter Coordinators. In between juggling jobs and volunteer positions, she can be found on the Bruce Trail, practicing yoga or experimenting in the kitchen. Tahlia is most looking forward to sharing experiences and encouraging folks to become more connected with our own food, or at least a little closer to it! |
